Sixth-eighth Grade CLUBS & PROGRAMS - S.T.E.M.
“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”- Benjamin Franklin, Founding Father
S.T.E.M. uses core subjects to combine the design concepts, philosophies and teaching methodologies that are integral to our Clubs and Programs. We are all about doing...hands on learning is the way we bring creativity, collaborative learning and engaging concepts into our classrooms. STEM by definition is a collaborative way of bringing subjects together to introduce students to higher-order thinking. So it shouldn’t be isolated to the classroom. We at CMS are conscious about how special programs and our clubs can bring the STEM Design Model to help solve real life dilemmas.

RISING SIXTH GRADE PARENT & STUDENT WELCOME NIGHT
Students and Parents are welcomed for a night of exploration and information concerning all of the available programs and clubs offered at CMS. Questions are answered directly and a sense of familiarity which comes from putting names and faces together is reassuring as the parents with their student walk around the tables accessing interests and schedules. The goal of this event is to advise students and parents on the various classes, sports, and clubs that CMS has to offer. CTE sets up a booth to promote our classes and give out important information.
Project Based Learning (PBL) is a constructivist instructional approach where students are engaged in meaningful inquiry of personal interest to them and where collaboration and personalized learning are emphasized. Research confirms that PBL is an effective and enjoyable way to learn and develop deeper learning competencies required for success in college, career and civic life.
